There is so much to do with us this February half term and the best part is – it doesn’t matter what the weather is! Completely free to enter and dog-friendly, let us take you on a fascinating journey back in time, where the whole family can enjoy discovering Cornwall’s impressive milling history alongside some free family fun, a large café with delicious food and some shopping to treat yourself.
Below are our top things to do with us at Cornwall Gold this half term…
Discover our free exhibition
Our huge interactive exhibition is where Cornwall’s rich milling history is brought to life in an exciting way. Discover ingenious machinery, historical artefacts, interactive displays, the history of tin, the people of Tolgus and so much more.
Get into character
Kids (and adults!) will have fun getting into character as a Bal Maiden or Tin Miller at the dress-up station in our Tolgus Exhibition! Don’t forget to take a photo and tag us @cornwallgoldofficial
Go panning for gold!
Our Tolgus Stream Panning lets you sift sand with a traditional gold pan to reveal gems and hidden treasures. This free fun family activity is undercover and ideal for all ages.
Enjoy locally sourced food
The Cornish Pantry serves up a delicious menu of homemade food and allows you to relax as you reflect on the history which surrounds you. We offer gluten-free and vegetarian options, traditional Cornish cream tea, cooked breakfast, lunch, and a children’s menu. Plus, furry friends are welcome! See the menu here.
Get on your bike or put on your walking shoes
The Tolgus Trail is 2.2 miles long and is best started at the beautiful Portreath beach where you can walk for an hour to reach Cornwall Gold for a delicious pit stop in the Pantry.
The trail passes through farmland crossing the White River and you can connect with the Coast-to-Coast Trail in Cambrose. The Tolgus Trail is flat and almost completely off-road with just one main road to cross. See more information here.
