What’s on this February Half Term

Hurray it's half term! Here's what to do...

This February half term, there’s plenty to enjoy with us, whatever the weather. Step inside and explore Cornwall’s remarkable milling history in our free exhibition and by walking around the ancient Tolgus Mill. Alongside history, the whole family can enjoy free family activities, play bingo and win a prize, relax in our spacious Cornish Pantry serving tasty food, and browse our shop for a little something special to take home.

Below are our top things to do this February half-term…  

Play spotters bingo

Pick up your free spotters bingo activity sheet this half term and head off on your own mini adventure. Explore our site and see if you can spot five things in a row to shout Bingo! Once you’ve finished, head to our award-winning Cornish Pantry to complete the colouring-in and activities before showing a team member to claim your sweet treat. Dress up a tin miller!

Why not have some fun getting into character as a Bal Maiden or Tin Miller at the dress-up station in our Tolgus Exhibition? Don’t forget to take a photo and tag us @cornwallgoldofficial  

Free panning for gold

Grab a traditional gold pan and sift through sand to uncover hidden treasures. This hands-on activity is perfect for everyone and offers a fascinating glimpse into the techniques used by millers in the past.

Eat breakfast on a tin miner’s shovel!

Come and enjoy breakfast, brunch, kids’ food, winter warmers, sandwiches, Cornish cream teas and more in our excellent Cornish Pantry. We offer gluten-free and vegetarian options plus furry friends are welcome! See the menu here.

Learn about Cornish history

Our huge free interactive exhibition and Tolgus Mill, is where Cornwall’s rich milling history is brought to life in an exciting way. Discover ingenious machinery, historical artefacts, interactive displays, the history of tin, the people of Tolgus, and so much more.

Get some fresh air

The Tolgus Trail is 2.2 miles long and is best started at the beautiful Portreath beach, where you can walk for an hour to reach Cornwall Gold for a delicious pit stop in the Pantry.  

The trail passes through farmland crossing the White River and you can connect with the Coast-to-Coast Trail in Cambrose. The Tolgus Trail is flat and almost completely off-road with just one main road to cross. See more information here.   

Enjoy pottery painting

Fun for all the family, young and old alike! We will glaze and fire your masterpiece or you can paint and take it home the same day.  No need to book, just turn up!
